VOICE ACTIVATION

These days voice recognition is already being used to control atmosphere in the home and its appliances, in the workplace, to activate equipment, in writing without manual assistance, to command robots, etc. At its simplest explanation, voice activation means giving commands through voice recognition and the command is carried out.

I tried to explore VOICE ACTIVATION spiritually as it relates to Jesus' words in Mark 11:23. “For truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says.”

My basic premises are that this is a teaching of Jesus and not a parable, hyperbole, figure of speech, exaggeration, or merely an allegory. Nor was it meant exclusively for the early disciples who were able to do miracles. Various translations of the word “verily” give us that certainty. Jesus said, “Amen, I tell you the truth, assure you most solemnly, this is the absolute truth, I can guarantee this.” I'm inclined to take this seriously, aren't you?

I'll save you some research time and break down the results of my comparison of translations of this verse. “Say” is never translated any other way. It means speak aloud with one's voice, to verbalize, talk, state, express, declare, announce, assert. No other meaning is implied. Not to silently think, not to pray for or about, but utter with the mouth and lips using the tongue and vocal cords. What is there about “say” that we don't understand?

WHAT are we to say to the mountain, whether literal or symbolic? Translated or paraphrased, “be removed” is “uproot yourself, fall into the sea, throw yourself in, be lifted up, taken up, cast into, be taken away, move from here into.” In the MSG paraphrase it is: “Just say, ‘Go jump in the lake’—no shuffling or hemming and hawing.”

HOW should we say it? “With faith, without doubting, not wavering but believing.” We are to speak to the mountain and not about it. Jesus didn't say we should pray for it to happen. The more we speak about a problem, the bigger it gets and the more power it has over us and our lives. Caleb, successor to Moses, said, “Give me that mountain.” (Joshua 14:12) We need to be bold and believe that we can conquer our mountains as well. As we speak God’s Word over the situation, God will move mountains by His Spirit. (Zechariah 4:16).

WHAT can we conclude from this passage?

The power of the spoken word: God created all things with just His words. The Bible tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Our words too have power for good or evil when we speak them. (James 3;2-12)

How we know we have God's authority: We need to understand who we are in Christ. The Bible tells us that we who believe in Jesus Christ are the body of Christ and the same power of God that raised Jesus from the dead is in us. God gives us the power and authority to use the word of God, the name of Jesus, and the power of the Holy Spirit to stop the devil’s attacks on our lives. We can speak with boldness knowing we have authority as children of God. Of course, God’s power is what heals sickness and disease and casts out evil. We can be His channels to speak with boldness to our mountains knowing we also have authority and power by the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Jesus is the perfect example for us to follow: And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. (Mark 4:39) Jesus didn’t pray to the Father for help. He spoke to the natural world, the winds and the sea, and they obeyed him. Jesus knew who He was and the all-authority God had given Him in heaven and on earth. In Christ we can speak directly to our problem mountain whether it is cancer, addiction, depression, financial breakthrough, marriage problems, sickness, or any other adversities and obstacles, spiritual, physical, or natural.

Some of us are not accustomed to do anything about our needs or problems other than “pray for” something, or to “pray about” something. There are many different aspects to prayer taught in the Bible—all good. To speak TO the problem may seem strange to us. Either we believe Jesus' teaching in this passage and use our VOICE ACTIVATION as He demonstrated, or we'll have to backtrack and explain it away as allegory, symbolism, or Jesus' exaggeration.

If we have VOICE RECOGNITION (hear and perceive that it is God's voice prompting us) and are convinced from His Word of His promises in particular situations, let's do our mountain-speaking directly!

Leona -- Such a wonderful teaching! As we deal with the Prince of the Power of the Air to speak out loud in praise, glorifying our God, with the authority Christ gives us against the enemies devices is a weapon we need to use, and often. I did this (demonic dream) and it worked. Praise God!

I appreciate all of my writer friends' prayers at a time of my own weakness and inability to answer. God's strength is made perfect in weakness when I must lean hard on Him. I'll try to come on the Encouragement Zoom for a minute Sunday night but only if my strength lasts that long. I'll ask for help from my beloved family caregivers.

This is a concept I have not really thought about before. I am one who turns immediately to prayer. While I know that is a good thing, I will now also address the concern head on believing in God's teaching for us to do that in His almighty, powerful name. Praying for God's comfort for you Leona
